A field guide to FDA's animal drug reports
What has been reported to FDA about your pet's medication
1,357,245 adverse event reports, counted by the active ingredients of the drugs they name, and by species, breed and reported sign. Search a trade name to find its ingredient. Reports received through 31 Mar 2026.
Reports received, by species
Five years of reports by month of receipt. Each panel has its own scale. Volume peaks each summer, when parasite products are in heavier use; the newest months are incomplete because FDA posts reports with a delay of three to six months.
Most reported ingredients, latest 12 months
FDA: "An API dataset query result cannot be used to estimate the risk associated with the product or compare one drug or device product with another." The order below follows how many animals receive each drug: it is led by monthly parasite preventives given to millions of dogs. openFDA masks brand and manufacturer names in adverse event records, so the reports counted here cannot be attributed to a particular brand.
